Some pieces cannot be found on a shelf. They have to be made, from the inside out, for one person, one story, or one space.
A commission is not simply a painting made to order. It is a personal, original piece of art made specifically for you.
Who this is for
There are many reasons to want to commission a piece of art. A few of the ones I hear most often are:
You miss someone who is no longer physically with you
Someone important to you has crossed over, and you want a beautiful reminder that even though their physical presence is gone, the connection is still very much alive. A painting can hold that connection like a warm daily hug. It's a softer alternative to a photograph, which can sometimes carry more of the weight of grief than you're ready for. The piece can draw from specific memories, places, or an imagined dreamscape of the connection across dimensions. My series Life in Layers explores this theme in different ways, and a commission can be a new piece in that spirit, made in whatever size your space calls for.
You want your home to actively support your wellbeing
Your space can be a quiet ally in becoming the most authentic version of you, or your family. A piece made with colors and symbols chosen for you can help you feel more at peace, uplifted, and empowered every day.

You haven't found the right piece for your space yet, and you'd like something original, not something hanging in every other living room. Maybe something that feels positive, harmonious, and peaceful.
The process of a commission
Your idea, and the story or feeling you want the painting to carry, is at the center of the conversation. I'll guide you through size, style, and color, so the piece is right for your space.
If any of my existing artworks have elements close to what you're imagining, they're a good starting point for the conversation. Work by other artists can be useful for inspiration too, though I never copy what someone else has created. Photographs, colors, magazine clippings, anything visual can help. I'll ask what to draw from each reference, so the direction stays clear.
Once we've gathered references and settled on a description of the piece, I create a digital sketch from everything we've discussed and bring it back to you for feedback. When you're happy with it, the painting itself begins.
Costs & timeframe
A commission has two parts. The painting itself is priced like any of my originals, by size, so the price grows honestly with the piece rather than being pulled from thin air. As an example, a 50 x 50 cm painting would be around 2200 kr., and a 100 x 100 cm painting around 8800 kr.
On top of that is a fixed commission fee of 1500 kr., which covers the part that makes the piece truly yours: our conversations, gathering references, the digital sketch, and one round of adjustments. The fee is paid upfront, and the painting is paid for once it's finished.
All prices include VAT. Delivery is agreed separately.
Timelines vary depending on size and complexity. I'll always be upfront with you about what to expect before we begin, and keep you updated as the work moves along.
Delivery
Paintings come unframed, so you can choose a frame that suits your space. If you're nearby, you're welcome to pick it up here on Funen, or I can deliver it myself. For longer distances, I can take the canvas off its stretcher and ship it carefully rolled, so a local framer can re-stretch and frame it for you.
